Van Eyck Statement Necklace with Red Garnet in 9k Yellow Gold

I love the way a design can reside in your subconscious for years before bubbling to the surface.

The Arnolfini Portrait by Van Eyck (1434) wormed its way into my brain about a decade ago, specifically the fisheye mirror. Van Eyck was the first painter to use this perspective. I used it as a starting point for this necklace about ten years after I first sketched it. If gems could double as fisheye lenses I would've done it that way, as it was I ended up with rich, Indian red garnet!

The chain is composed of twenty individually cast links which were designed as a unique aspect to this design.

Size: Chain - 18 inches / 45.7 cm. Centre piece - 2.3 cm.
