The Five Pieces of Jewellery Every Woman Should Own? Nope!
December 29, 2016
I came across this article Huff Post (2013) proclaiming "The Five Pieces of Jewellery Every Woman Should Own". The article listed huggie earrings, hoops and pearls of some kind. I don't remember the rest as I just thought - WHAT NONSENSE! No woman needs to have her jewellery wardrobe dictated to her! I personally, am not a hoop-earring-loving person. I never have been and am therefore unlikely to ever design any. In today's day and age where so much style is so homogeneous and looks the same wherever you are in the world, it is more than ever the job of jewellery to express that twist, that soupçon of difference that makes us unique. You can keep the hoops, huggies and pearls Huff Post (Sorrrrry!) - or better yet, let's take them and do something completely new and unexpected with them. There are some amazing designers out there. Let's celebrate them and remember, as Dublin's DesignYard Gallery always says "Life is too short to wear boring jewellery".
The challenge? An engagement ring where the stone had fallen out of its setting. My lovely client missed wearing her ring terribly. It had been sitting in a box, unworn and forlorn.
